Partnership Information

The mission of the Tobacco-Free Partnership of Baker County is to mobilize community partners to establish long-lasting systems and policy changes that promote tobacco-free social norms to prevent usage of tobacco products by youth/young adults, encourage and support tobacco cessation, eliminate health hazards of secondhand smoke and decrease the number of deaths due to tobacco and nicotine products.

Over 18% of Baker County adults smoke, 49.9% of those smokers have tried to quit in the past year. Youth in Baker County report ever using E-cigarettes or vaporizers at a rate of 23.3%, while 22.6% have used these products within the last 30 days.

Local Initiatives

Tobacco-Free Baker proudly supports a tobacco- and vape-free public parks ordinance for City parks in Baker County. The next step is expanding this to County parks to ensure healthier outdoor spaces. The K-12 Baker County School District has implemented a comprehensive tobacco-free policy and will now conduct annual evaluations to maintain its success. Baker County has 3 active SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) clubs and continues to recruit new members to promote a tobacco-Free future.
