As a partnership, we promote a healthy community by reducing the impact of nicotine and tobacco use on youth and adults. Our mission is to mobilize the community and advance local policies that will help end nicotine addiction, protect children, and improve public health for generations to come.
SWAT is Florida's statewide youth organization working to mobilize, educate and equip Florida youth to revolt against and de-glamorize Big Tobacco. SWAT is a united movement of empowered youth working towards a tobacco free future.
As of 2024, Columbia County has an adult smoking rate of 26% with the state average being 10.5%. The youth rates, ages 11-17 who vape or use another toxic tobacco product is 14%.
Tobacco Free Columbia promotes a healthier Columbia County through education, advocacy, and policy change. Current initiatives include supporting tobacco-free parks and school campuses, expanding cessation access through local referral partnerships, empowering youth advocates in SWAT, and raising community awareness about the dangers of tobacco and nicotine use.
The Tobacco Free Columbia Partnership is a coalition of community members actively working to reduce youth access and exposure to all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes and other vaping devices.
This program is managed by Civic Communications.
