Mission: Working to protect all Floridians from the dangers of inhaled nicotine and secondhand smoke exposure, through evidence-based tobacco prevention and cessation programs, with an emphasis on youth and other vulnerable populations.
Tobacco-Free Jacksonville is the community partnership of adults and youth working together to prevent youth tobacco use and youth exposure to second-hand smoke whereby youth conceive and carry out tobacco prevention.
County SWAT Information
Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) is Florida's statewide youth organization working to mobilize, educate and equip Florida youth to revolt against and de-glamorize Big Tobacco. To join a Duval SWAT club please contact Constance@civcom.com
The 2018 Florida Youth Tobacco Survey suggest that 1 in 3 (33%) youth ages 11–17 in our county has used a tobacco product. E-cigarettes are the most commonly used tobacco product. Nearly half (48%) of youth report being exposed to secondhand smoke.
Since 2009, CivCom has collaborated with more than 50 public health organizations throughout the United States. Our focus is in Florida, where we are working to end nicotine addiction and improve health equity.
