Predatory marketing and illegal sales of tobacco and vaping products remain a serious threat to young people in Hamilton. The 2025 Florida Youth Tobacco Survey reveal that 1 in 6 youth 16% ages 11–17 in the county uses tobacco—a trend driven by vaping (1 in 7 youth 15% ). Young people who do not use tobacco are impacted, as well. Approximately one third (39%) of youth report being exposed to secondhand smoke from cigarettes or EVPs.
Tobacco Free Hamilton and Students Working Against Tobacco are working for nicotine free parks at all County run parks and boat ramps. Thanks to the support of the citizens of White Springs, Jasper, and Jennings- the ordinance has passed in each of these municipalities unanimously.
