According to the 2024 Florida Youth Tobacco Survey, in Hernando County, 1 in 9 (11%) middle and high school students vape or use another toxic tobacco product, and the majority (54%) of youth (ages 11-17) are exposed to secondhand smoke or aerosol from electronic vapor products.
Tobacco Free Florida staff are actively working on a variety of policy and systems change initiatives in Hernando County. These initiatives are designed to reduce tobacco use, protect public health, and promote tobacco-free environments across different sectors of the community.
