The mission of Tobacco Free Manatee is to promote health and wellness through changes in systems and policies that decrease secondhand smoke exposure, prevent and reduce tobacco use among youth, and reduce the number of current tobacco users.
The Manatee County Chapter has 11 SWAT clubs: Healthy Teens Coalition, Braden River High School, North River Prevention Partners, Manatee School for the Arts (MS & HS), Manatee High, Lakewood Ranch High School, Parrish Community High School, Southeast High School, Palm View Middle School, and Buffalo Creek Middle School.
In 2019, 27.9% of Florida Youth (ages 11-17) reported having ever tried electronic vaping, and 19.1% reported that they currently use cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, hookah, or electronic vaping.
