County SWAT Information

According to the 2024 Florida Youth Tobacco Survey, in Polk County, 1 in 11 (9%) middle and high school students vape or use another toxic tobacco product, and the majority (58%) of youth (ages 11-17) are exposed to secondhand smoke or aerosol from electronic vapor products.

Local Initiatives
Tobacco Free Florida staff are actively working on a variety of policy and systems change initiatives in Polk County. These initiatives are designed to reduce tobacco use, protect public health, and promote tobacco-free environments across different sectors of the community. The four primary areas of focus include Point of Sale, Tobacco-Free Schools (K12), Tobacco-Free Parks and Beaches (TFPub), and Smoke-Free Multiunit Housing (SFMUH).
