Partnership Information
Tobacco Free Polk is mobilized to prevent initiation and reduce the use of tobacco products, reduce secondhand smoke exposure, and impact local policy and systems change to improve the health and quality of life of Polk County residents.
County SWAT Information
Polk SWAT is a youth-led, advocacy organization available to all Polk middle and high schools, dedicated to empowering youth to live tobacco/vape free and become advocates for local policies that make tobacco/vape less accessible and less acceptable.
County Data
According to the Florida Youth Tobacco Survey, tobacco use among Polk County youth (ages 11-17) has historically been higher than the state. 1 in 3 Polk youth have tried a tobacco/e-cig product; 1 in 8 currently use e-cigarettes (aka vape).

Objectives: (1) PREVENT youth/young adult tobacco use/vaping, (2) REDUCE health hazards of secondhand smoke, (3) PROMOTE adult-youth partnerships, and (4) COUNTERACT tobacco industry marketing tactics that target youth and low-income communities.
