In Walton County, 25.4% of students reported in the Florida Youth Tobacco Survey that they have tried an electronic vaping product with 14.8% of Walton County youth currently vaping. Current youth vape use is decreasing locally from its highest rate of 23.5% in 2020.
The Walton County Prevention Coalition is working on multiple tobacco prevention and control initiatives across our community. These include advocating for the Walton County School District to adopt a Tobacco Free Schools policy, monitoring the way tobacco is marketed at the point of sale, promoting tobacco free parks and beaches for children and families throughout the county, and raising awareness about the Free Tobacco Cessation Services that are available to Walton County residents.
