County SWAT Information

Students Working Against Tobacco is a youth led group of 6-12 graders (or 11-17 year olds) that work to educate their peers and create lasting positive change in their communities and schools. They advocate for policy changes like tobacco and vape free parks and schools to create a smoke free future. County Data

Every resident of Putnam County deserves a healthy future and a healthy life. Right now, that future is not possible for everyone. In Putnam County, 1 in 4 adults smokes and 1 in 5 youth ages 11-17 vapes or uses another toxic tobacco product.

Local Initiatives

Tobacco Free Putnam and SWAT work with the school district and community stakeholders to educate on the harms of using tobacco or nicotine products, in efforts to reduce youth vaping. It is also our goal to reduce exposure to dangerous secondhand smoke and vapor among our children by advocating for city, county and municipality ordinances for smoke and vape free parks. Our tobacco treatment specialists with Suwannee River AHEC promote and teach our free virtual and in-person cessation classes.
